BOTOX FROWN LINES VANCOUVER: PREVENTION AND TREATMENT

Botox® treatment for addressing frown lines is one of the most popular treatments embraced at our Vancouver clinic. Frowning, a nuanced facial expression, can convey unease, worry or anger. This facial muscle movement may become more involuntary as we age, leading to a habitual furrowing that can lead to more permanent lines, commonly known as the “11” lines. Frown Line Botox Vancouver treatment can help relax these muscles, treating existing lines and preventing new lines from forming.

FROWN LINE BOTOX VANCOUVER: HOW DOES IT WORK?

Aesthetically, frown lines are a common sign of aging, and for some people, their presence can affect self-confidence and satisfaction with their appearance. Luckily, to counter this, treatments like Botox® can be used to relax the glabellar muscles, reducing their activity and, in turn, the appearance of these lines and wrinkles.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long does it take for results to appear from my frown line Botox® treatment?

It may take 3-5 days to notice any changes in the frown area. Botox® will continue to relax the muscles over the next 1-2 weeks, with results peaking at 10-14 days. It is important to note that each individual will be different and to be patient with the results. A touch-up may be required at a follow-up visit at 2 weeks.

Will Botox® get rid of the 11 lines?

Despite popular belief, Botox® does not actually erase wrinkles. It relaxes facial muscles to keep you from overusing them involuntarily. This helps soften the wrinkles. Any resting line present without frowning is considered “etched in” the skin. With consistent Botox® treatments, these resting lines can become barely visible over time.

How many units of Botox® are needed for treating the frown lines?

Frown lines usually respond well to treatment with 15-30 units of Botox®. However, the treatment dose may vary from 10-40 units, depending on the patient’s anatomy, the strength of the muscles, and gender differences.

At what age do people usually start getting Botox® treatments?

Botox® is approved for patients who are over the age of 18. Nowadays, some patients start preventative Botox® treatments in their mid to late 20s and early 30s. Many patients will start later in life in their 40s and 50s. There is no set time frame, and our goal is to help our clients look and feel confident at any age.

Is Botox® or Juvederm® better for frown lines?

Depending on your anatomy and desired outcome, a combination of the two may be beneficial. We will usually start with Botox® treatments, which are helpful for over 95% of our patients. In rare presentations with a deep fold or stubborn lines that do not respond to Botox® alone, our doctors may consider adding Juvederm® as a complimentary treatment to this area.

What are common side effects after a frown line Botox® treatment?

Common side effects include mild bruising, redness and tenderness in the treatment area that should resolve within 2 to 3 days. Some may experience a mild headache, but this usually resolves spontaneously in 1-2 days.

How long does frown line Botox® last?

Frown line Botox® will last 3 to 6 months, depending on your metabolism. With consistent treatments over time, your frown muscles may not be as active, and the treatment result may last longer.
