ABOUT DERMAL FILLERS IN VANCOUVER

As we reach our late 20s our collagen production decreases dramatically. Our skin's elasticity and volume are largely a result of this substance; as it declines so do the qualities that make for youthful-looking skin. Lines, wrinkles, creases, depressions, and indentations appear on your face - which is why dermal fillers can effectively improve facial aesthetics by filling in these imperfections to restore facial contour while reducing signs of aging.

Dermal fillers in Vancouver are a safe, fast, reversible, and nonsurgical cosmetic solution that provides exciting results with little to no recovery time. We have found that there is something for everyone when it comes to the application of dermal fillers. Filler treatments can be used on many areas of the face, such as the cheeks, nose, and lips, along with treating lines directly. With dermal fillers, everyone has an opportunity at having more youthful rejuvenated-looking skin without surgery.

FAQ

What Are Injectable Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a gel-like substance made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that is produced by the human body. A special property of hyaluronic acid is its ability to attract water; this is what makes dermal fillers able to restore facial volume and hydrate the skin while increasing collagen production. Together this helps decrease wrinkles and provides a lifted and rejuvenated appearance to areas like the jowls or under the eyes, cheeks, chin and many other areas. With the injection of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers, you will see smoother tighter looking skin that has been rejuvenated.

How Do Dermal Fillers At Sparrow MD Work?

dermal filler treatment involves injecting a gel-like substance into specific areas of the face. The filler plumps the skin from underneath and replaces lost fat and proteins to reduce wrinkles and boost volume in hollow areas.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are an ideal product for someone who wants to look younger and more refreshed. If you don't want surgery or invasive procedures but want to enhance or restore your appearance, dermal fillers are often a great option and form the backbone of many of the other treatments offered by our cosmetic skin doctors.

Dermal Filler Brands

  • Juverderm® - Juvederm® is a type of hyaluronic acid gel filler that is used to fill wrinkles, lines, and folds on the face and neck, as well as non-surgically enhancing the lips.
  • Belotero® - Belotero®, another hyaluronic acid filler, is also used very superficially. The unique formula allows us to inject it close to the surface without causing any discoloration.
  • Restylane®Restylane is an excellent all-purpose filler that can be used to smooth out lines and wrinkles, plump up the lips, and even fill in depressions. The hyaluronic acid gel is smooth, which makes it an excellent choice for treating the tear-trough.
  • Revanesse® - Revanesse® is a hyaluronic acid filler that feels and looks natural. It is also easier to shape and mold than most hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. This makes it an ideal choice for patients who have never had fillers before.
  • Radiesse® - Radiesse® is a gel filler composed of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres. It provides a strong framework for revolumizing the face and stimulating collagen production for continued results and improvements.
  • Sculptra® - Sculptra® contains a synthetic polymer, Poly-L-Lactic Acid. It stimulates collagen production that has been lost to aging. It also helps rebuild and reinforce the skin's structural foundation.

Which Dermal Filler Brand Is Right For You?

At Sparrow MD, we carry different dermal filler brands in Vancouver. To achieve the most optimal outcome, our team of doctors will decide which dermal filler brands to use based on the targeted areas and desired results. For example, some fillers are best for building structures and providing a lift. This is useful in procedures like cheek filler, chin filler, or jawline filler. Other treatments may require a softer filler that gives a smoother look, such as nasolabial fold filler treatment, marionette line treatment, laugh lines treatment or smoker's lines treatment. Some more delicate areas of the face such as the under eyes and temples require the use of a finer type of filler of smaller particle size. Different types and brands of filler can be used to enhance lips as well to create different texture, shape, and contour. The decision is best made with a discussion with our team during your consultation.

How Long Does Dermal Filler Last?

The effects of dermal fillers will last depending on the product, the area of treatment, and the patient itself; the denser the product and the deeper injected, the longer it will last, although it may not be the same in every case. Your cosmetic doctor, over time, will repeat the procedure, adjusting the amount and technique to ensure and maintain optimal results.

COMPLEMENTARY AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dermal fillers and neuromodulators like Botox® are made of completely different products. They are used to complement one another in facial rejuvenation treatments. In many of our clients, we will recommend a treatment plan using both of these options.

How are they different?

Neuromodulators relax the small muscles in your face that cause lines and wrinkles of facial expression. Therefore, neuromodulators soften and prevent expression lines such as frown lines, forehead lines, crow's feet, or bunny lines.

Dermal fillers volumize from below the resting lines and hollows to smooth them out and promote a rejuvenated appearance by adding volume back to the ageing facial features. Dermal fillers done by our experienced injectors are geared towards preserving facial structure for the most natural results. Common treatment areas include lips, cheeks, temples, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jawline, and chin.

The combined result of using both neuromodulators and dermal fillers is often ideal for full-face rejuvenation using injectables. With both of these options, our expert injectors can help create a rejuvenated, refreshed, and more youthful appearance.

We understand that any treatment to your face requires trust. We also know that a procedure on the face can seem a bit intimidating. Sparrow MD also knows you have many options. It is our privilege to earn your trust and assist you in your goals.

Our College of Physicians certified Medical Doctors who specialize in advanced medical aesthetics administer all dermal filler treatments at our clinic. We are committed to optimizing your results and your safety.

Dermal fillers are well-studied and a safe medical treatment option. But to deliver dermal fillers in a manner that provides both desired results and safety requires training and expertise. The face has many underlying sensitive structures, including nerves, blood vessels and vital organs like the eyes. It takes a trained professional to perform the procedures with precision and aesthetic expertise.

Therefore, regardless of which clinic you choose, it is essential to be treated by trained medical professionals who understand the anatomy of the face and are experienced in dermal fillers.

To learn about the best treatment options for you, book a consultation today to find out how we can help you achieve your goals.

You will notice results immediately after the procedure is completed. However, the optimal result will only become apparent in the weeks after the procedure as the filler settles into the skin, any swelling resolves, and your body's natural collagen production begins.

The duration of these results can vary depending on how quickly your body breaks down the dermal filler. Depending on the individual, results can generally last between six to eighteen months.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be removed with an enzyme dissolver. This is also a non-invasive procedure involving a simple injection. This is what keeps dermal filler treatments safe and adjustable with the ageing process.

There is no preparation needed for dermal fillers. Our medical professionals will provide a consultation to help evaluate if dermal fillers or another treatment would be the best option for achieving your desired goals.

To minimize bruising a few days before the procedure, we recommend stopping blood-thinning over-the-counter medications like aspirin, naproxen, or ibuprofen. We also recommend stopping supplements like Omega-3, St. John's Wort, Gingko Biloba, ginseng, garlic, primrose oil, and Vitamin E. We recommend avoiding alcoholic beverages for about 24 hours before injection.

All treatments begin with a consultation where our medical doctors who specialize in medical aesthetics will address your concerns. During this consult, a customized treatment plan will be tailored to your needs. This process involves taking your medical history, including understanding any past aesthetics procedures you may have had, along with your satisfaction with these past treatments. Next, our professionals fully explore your concerns, and any solutions provided by dermal fillers are outlined in detail.

Most of our clients prefer to have the consult and treatment on the same visit. We will often first apply a local anesthetic cream to the skin during the treatment itself to minimize any discomfort. The filler itself also has an anesthetic in it, similar to what you receive at the dentist, to provide further comfort.

Next, our doctors carefully inject the dermal fillers at specific anatomical locations based on your personalized treatment plan. This is done with a tiny needle. Often, for safety and improved results, a cannula is used to inject the dermal filler. Most people feel dull pressure from the injection. Most patients often describe the procedure as fairly comfortable.

In most cases, dermal filler treatments can be completed in under forty-five minutes. Dermal fillers have very minimal to no downtime. One can expect some localized swelling and/or redness for a few hours following the procedure. In some rare cases, mild bruising may be present. Otherwise, this procedure requires minimal recovery time.

A majority of our patients notice no side effects. This is a minimal to no downtime procedure. However, it is not abnormal to experience mild swelling, redness, and tenderness for the first 48 hours after the procedure. A little bruising can occur after the procedure. This is also not unexpected, but most of our clients do not require any downtime.

The cost of a dermal filler treatment varies with each person based on the area treated, their current anatomy, and their desired results. These factors determine how many syringes of dermal filler are needed or whether we should perform other procedures as part of the overall treatment plan. During your consultation, the cost, as well as payment options, are thoroughly reviewed. We accept cash, credit cards, and debt.
