How long does Botox® last for the masseters and TMJ pain?

The effectiveness of TMJ Botox® may last up to 6 months. This is dependent on the strength of the masseter muscles, the oral masticatory habits or the individual, as well individual metabolism. Many of our patients come back for subsequent treatment around the 3 to 4 month mark. 

When can I expect to see results from Botox® in the masseters?

In the masseters and TMJ area, Botox® has an onset action of 1-2 weeks. The peak result is usually seen at 4 weeks, at which time you may be return to our clinic for a follow up appointment for a follow up to see if the tension and pain are adequately addressed.  

Will Botox® for TMJ help slim down my face?

Will TMJ Botox® affect my ability to chew?

The dose of the Botox® and strength of the treatment is usually determined based on the clinical assessment at your appointment with us as well as a discussion between you and our physician about your previous history of TMJ Botox® treatments.
