ABOUT INJECTABLE BODY CONTOURING

Sparrow MD offers non-surgical body contouring in Vancouver. This treatment involves using Lipodissolve, a naturally occurring substance that dissolves unwanted body fat. Notably, this is a non-surgical treatment. It is also known as injection lipolysis or mesotherapy.

Non-surgical body contouring has been safely used worldwide for over twenty years to contour pockets of undesired body fat. It is minimally invasive. Therefore, expect only a short to moderate amount of downtime. Generally, multiple sessions are required to reduce unwanted body fat pockets gradually.

Patients often find Lipodissolve a more effective alternative to other body contouring treatments. In particular, those who have struggled with stubborn areas of unwanted fat or cellulite often find impressive results.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Like all cosmetic treatments, results from Lipodissolve can vary from person to person. Multiple sessions are generally recommended to gradually reduce the undesired fat pockets. The number of treatments necessary is often determined on three things: the volume of the targeted area, your goals and wishes, and your body’s response to Lipodissolve.

Lipodissolve can have the following benefits:

  • Non-surgical fat reduction

  • Used safely for over 20 years

  • Naturally occurring ingredients or derivatives of such in the body

  • Minimal or no downtime

  • Short procedure time of under 60 minutes

  • Can be used almost anywhere on the body

  • Can correct residual post-surgical deformities after liposuction

  • Can be used to shrink fatty growths like lipomas

Lipodissolve has been used for more decades towards body contouring. It is considered a safe and effective treatment for body contouring based on scientific studies. It is important to remember that like all cosmetic treatments, not all Lipodissolve cocktails are made equal. Neither are the injectors administering the treatment. The safest form of Lipodissolve is a standardized formula or a medically approved drug proven to work and is administered by a licensed medical doctor.

These factors determine both the success and safety of the treatment. Choose a well-trained medical professional that you trust to administer these treatments for the best safety profile. At Sparrow MD, we are fully committed to patient safety. We choose safe, effective, and standardized treatment formulations. Reported side effects of Lipodissolve can include pain, itchiness, swelling, bruising, and redness at injection sites. There may be numbness or tingling which usually resolve with time. Rare side effects are uneven body contouring, scars, lumps, areas of hardness about the treatment area, nausea and vomiting. However, these side effects are uncommon.

When these side effects do occur they typically resolve without treatment and generally do not result in patients discontinuing treatment.

Lipodissolve contains phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholic acid, which are fat dissolvers. They are naturally occurring in our own bodies. The injected solution destroys fat cells through internal chemical reactions. These chemical processes mimic those in your own body that dissolves fats during their intestinal absorption when eaten. Harnessing this biochemical process aesthetically leads to improved body contour and fat reduction in the treatment areas.

It takes a few weeks to see the effect in the treatment areas after treatment sessions. This is because it takes time for the body to eliminate the destroyed fat cells through our metabolism via urine or stool. Multiple treatments spaced one month apart are typically recommended for best results.

Lipodissolve treatments are versatile and can be used to treat fatty pockets almost anywhere on the body. It is injected directly into the targets areas and is therefore very precise. We have sometimes used this to clean up residual fatty pockets and irregularities after surgery or energy-based body contouring treatments. Our qualified medical injectors can finetune the treatment to the shape of the targeted area.

It is important to note that Lipodissolve injections are not meant to replace a healthy diet and exercise. They are meant for overall weight reduction. The purpose of the treatment is to reduce excess fat in small, localized areas of the body.

Lipodissolve treatments are versatile and can be used to treat fatty pockets almost anywhere on the body. The common treatment areas include the abdomen, flanks, outer, posterior, and inner thighs, back fat, upper arms, axillary fat, submental fat, as well as lipomas.

Yes. Fat reduction from Lipodissolve is considered permanent once the fat cells are destroyed. The contouring effect will remain provided that our clients continue to maintain their weight through a healthy diet and exercise.

Belkyra™ is a Health Canada product that contains deoxycholic acid. This injectable drug is approved by the FDA and referred to as Kybella™ in the United States. It is designed to reduce submental fullness, also known as the double chin. It is a standardized formulation made by Allergan, the maker of Botox™ and Juvederm™ line of dermal fillers. Belkyra™ is used in similar ways as Lipodissolve but it is officially designed for the chin area.

As with all cosmetic treatments including both surgery and non-surgical options, there are benefits and limitations to each treatment. The best option will also depend on patient preference as well as our body’s individual response to treatment. We encourage you to discuss these options with one of our qualified medical doctors.
